Mt. Carmel Priory Enugu
Mt Carmel Enugu doubles as the practical administrative base of our young Vicariate and our Postulancy house. Founded in 1988, the Priory is also a very popular venue for Mass and the small quasi-public church is packed to overflowing most days. The Shrine to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the grounds is a place of prayer for many people. Many people also frequent the priory for the sacrament of Reconciliation, counselling, spiritual direction and retreats.
The community also has a prison ministry which includes chaplaincy to the local prison, and the CAPIO head office which is located on the grounds of the Priory.
At present, there are thirteen Friars in the Community – five conventual Friars: Luke Dominic Onwe (Prior), Ibemariae Ugwoke, Francis Considine, Francis Odigbo (Postulant Director) and Innocent Igbokwe; the Vicar – Francis Odigwe, Br. Paulinus Nwaka who is on his year of integration after graduating from Philosophical studies; and six Postulants – Jude, Cletus, Francis, Franklin and Emmanuel.
